What is NTape?

What is NTape?

First things first - what is Kinesiology Tape?

Kinesiology tape was first developed in Japan in 1979 by Dr. Kenzo Kase to treat a range of athletic injuries and physical ailments. The tape mimics human skin while being completely non-restrictive, giving the user free range of movement to perform sports activities.

The tape was used by Japanese medical practitioners for the first 10 years of its existence but soon broke into the mainstream thanks to the 1988 Japanese Olympic team when they sported the tape while taking part in part in the games.

What does it do?

Kinesio Tape compliments the body’s natural healing capabilities, alleviating discomfort and facilitating lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affects forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation, reducing pressure while enabling a more effective flow of blood and lymphatic fluid in and out of the target area.

Can’t you just use normal tapes as athletic tape?

Normal tapes are not designed to stretch in the same way as Ntape, meaning they will not stick to skin correctly and therefore not lift the skin.
